Mathopolis began as the Inaugural talk ended and saw participation from almost a hundred people, all present to test their mathematical knowledge and skill. A packed Audio-Visual room witnessed about 50 teams from all kinds of academic backgrounds competing against each other in the preliminary round, from which only the top six would be shortlisted to proceed to the final round. The prelims not only included questions from mathematics trivia but also ones like ‘Connect the pictures’.
The final six teams battled out the general and category quizzing rounds in the mains. The category quizzing round included categories which ran through the history of mathematics, curves, ‘why the symbol’, renowned mathematicians, ‘connect the four’ and an audio-visual category as well. Finally, two first-year students from St. Stephen’s College, Udit Daima and Sanjeev Golla, emerged victorious, marginally followed by second and third runner-ups.
